How Many Electric Scooters Fit in a Container? MOQ & Loading Math
Typical loading quantities
Numbers below are realistic ranges for the city-scooter class (3.00-10 wheels). Full-size motorcycles load fewer; trikes fewer still. Your exact plan depends on packing method and accessories.
| Container | CBU (assembled) | SKD (semi-knocked-down) |
|---|---|---|
| 20ft GP | 40–55 scooters | 60–75 scooters |
| 40ft GP | 85–110 scooters | 120–145 scooters |
| 40ft HQ | 95–120 scooters | 130–160 scooters |
CBU vs SKD: the real trade-off
CBU (completely built up) units roll off the container ready for PDI and sale. SKD packing removes mirrors, front wheel or handlebar to save volume — per-unit freight drops 15–25%, but you need assembly labour and a torque-spec checklist at destination.
For first orders we recommend CBU: fewer assembly variables while you learn the product. Switch high-volume repeat models to SKD once your workshop has the routine down.
How MOQ pricing actually works
Factory MOQ is about changeover cost, not stubbornness: each model/colorway run requires line setup, so quotes step down at container quantities. A mixed 40ft with three models in two colorways each is normally accepted at standard pricing; ten models in one container pushes unit prices up a tier.
EVMOTO accepts mixed-model containers across the full catalog and returns a loading plan with every quote — tell us your shortlist in the inquiry form and we calculate per-unit freight for your port.
Per-unit freight: the number that decides your margin
Divide the all-in container freight by loaded units. A $4,000 freight bill across 50 CBU scooters is $80/unit; across 130 SKD units it is $31. This single line item often exceeds the factory price difference between two competing suppliers, which is why comparing FOB quotes without a loading plan is meaningless. The full landed-cost method is in the import guide.
Frequently asked questions
What is the MOQ for EVMOTO models?
One 20ft container per order (mixed models accepted). That is roughly 40–70 city scooters depending on models and packing, or fewer for motorcycles and trikes.
Can I mix scooters and trikes in one container?
Yes. Trikes consume more floor area, so the loading plan matters — we send a per-container diagram with mixed quotes.
Do accessories ship inside the same container?
Yes — spare-parts kits, chargers and delivery boxes are packed into void space at no extra freight in most plans.
